Ebony Parsons
Biomedical Sciences Student
My name is Ebony Parsons and I am an aspiring physician. I chose this specific field because, similar to everyone, my first interaction with healthcare began when I was born. Infants delivered before week 37 within the third trimester of pregnancy are considered premature. I was born at 27 weeks. Learning about my mother's experience and my birth inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare.

In addition, I am a first-generation college student. My experience at UCF inspired me to found an organization; First-Generation Medicine. First-Generation Medicine aims to mentor and support first-generation students declaring a medical major. Furthermore, as I continued expanding my knowledge of medicinal practices throughout college, I found myself exposed to the idea of global health. This prompted me to join International Medical Outreach; a student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit that dedicates its efforts to proving means for members to expand their cultural awareness, promote medical altruism, sustainability, and preventative healthcare among underserved communities.

My eportfolio contains my resume, personal leadership philosophy, leadership and community service experiences, research, as well as several reflections. Below is my LinkedIn along with my Resume.
